Your answer can be as frivolous or as serious as you'd like. This is a favorite phrase that I use to describe anything that annoys me or I dislike. Currently the answers would be shrimp or coconut. Clowns and geese always fit the bill.

i think devil, the devil exists. a lot of human beings claiming Christianity (and that i'm no longer right here asserting they're incorrect), don't think in a private devil. As Christians, we could desire to consistently in no way, EVER use as an excuse, "The devil made me do it," through fact the devil has no means over Christians we don't provide him. God lives interior us (the Holy Spirit) giving us Jesus' resurrection means to defeat devil -- certainly He does it by us. devil, inspite of the undeniable fact that evil, isn't an evil 'god' -- my God is extra efficient than he's. yet, neither could desire to devil be taken too gently (as I stated, many do no longer even have faith he's genuine). You requested if Christians underestimate him -- sure, i think of a few do. i think of Christians bypass to 2 extremes: some say he does not exist, others have faith he's the reason in the back of each little thing and grant him evil "god" hood, and don't provide adequate heed to sinful flesh. some get the stability precise, inspite of the undeniable fact that. we are meant to stand up to him, and flee from him, understanding that he could be very crafty, yet endure in ideas that God is extra efficient and can cope with him, if we turn him over to God. The journalist in me would ask him/her why they always seemed to get such bad press over the centuries. I would pull a Barbara Walters interview tactic and make them cry...

In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.
The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.
Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.
Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.
Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It’s meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

evil is a concept created by man in his feeble attempt to understand something greater than he can imagine therefore the evil is in all of us and the devil must be in all of us
