Please help me!!!!Windows XP problem...?

Look i have windows XP original......today i switched on my PC and saw everything's alright except the language....the language consists of "?!" and rectangles....what to do to switch it back to english???? My Dad's gonna kill me...

    Click View > Encoding > Unicode (UTF 8)
