What is my printer's server name? or how can i find it?
My router is outdated, so i can't allow printer sharing the easy way. I need to manually enter my printer's network name during the set up (i've done it before, so i know it works, i just forgot how to find it) and it has to be exact. if it's 1 letter off (including upper or lowercase) then it won't work. i know that the name is //computer/printer, but the i don't know the right name to put for printer. Anyone know how i can find it?
I figured it out. You can figure out your exact address by doing the add printer set up on the computer it's connected to, and scan for network printers. Since it's connected to the computer it should show it immediately. It will list the name, and the address (which is what i was lookin for) so thanks anyways! community can pick best answer for this.

first off, it's \\computer\printer, not //. that being said, you don't need to know what the name of the printer is, just the name of the computer that is sharing it. just open the run dialog (start, run. or Windows key + R) and type \\Computer and enter. where "computer" is the name of the computer that is sharing the printer. if you don't know that, right click on "my computer" and go to properties and select the computer name tab.
once you have entered \\"computer name" into the run dialog, and hit enter. windows will bring up a window with everything that computer is sharing on the network. then just right click on the printer you want to connect to.

You should be able to open the control panel and click on the printer icon and get that information from there.
