Am I destined to live a hopeless life?

It's been 10 years of depressive-manic states. Tons of medications. Tons of hospital visits. I see no improvement, things only get worse.

Yes you are if you keep up this nonsense. Stop pitying yourself. Your a disgrace. Stop complaining you haven't done anything wrong because frankly you haven't done much of anything. If you want something from life you gotta go out there and take it, the world meets nobody half way.

Battling depression is a constant fight. It's not something like a disease which you can cure once and never have to deal with again. You have to find a way to get on top of it, then stay on top of it. If you reach the top and cease resisting, you will begin to slip back down again at an increasing rate. So, if you find a treatment that puts you above, keep going on with that treatment, even if you think you are "cured".

Also, professional treatments can fail if you have any kind of aversion to them to start with; conscious or not. In that case, try a more natural treatment; running for an example.
