Why does my laptop run slow when I try to play video?
For the past few weeks my PC has been running slow usually when I try to watch video. If I try to watch a vid the fans turn on and it runs at an extremely slow pace making watching vids impossible. I have updated my video drivers, ran a defrag, cleaned up my registry, deleted temp files, and anything else I could find on the internet to try. When I look at the processes in the task manager there is one that says "system idle process" that fluctuates CPU usage from 0 to 100. Any ideas as to what I can do to fix this?

When running Windows 7 make sure the power profile for fan is set to Active instead of passive. Or set the profile to High Performance.

Maybe the problem is the video, are you trying to play HD versions or large video files? it could be that your machine is having a tough time running these videos. Are you streaming them or are they stored on your local drive. More information could help you get more correct answers, but I hope this helps.

I believe it is time to upgrade. Go up a notch in your cpu and ram. If you posted your specs I could tell you the real problem, or what you need to upgrade. But these are signs of your computer being overworked and its struggling.

it may be a virus, you should scan your PC with a very good anti virus.
otherwise you will have to re-install your operating system.
