Who thinks the show Pit Boss is a joke?

I watched a couple episodes of Pit Boss last night on Animal Planet.

How can you take someone serious who does "rescue" when they don't even have Shorty's Rescue registered with the IRS as a 501(c)3 non-profit rescue?

With this show it makes it all look like they are doing this for the profit of a television show, not actually for the dogs. With out the 501(c)3, they do not have to account for any of the donations, or show where the money goes. When they take in a dog, they just call all the other rescues and beg them to take care of the dog. They don't even foster their own dogs.

If Shorty was really as dedicated as he says he is on fixing these dogs and not breeding them, then why on earth isn't his OWN dog, Hercules, neutered?

Do you think that this show should be cancelled - and have Animal Planet give the air time to real rescues that do the right thing, not just talk up a good story?

I believe Hercules is still intact because he has a "medical condition" which prevents it from happening... or something. Honestly, the show irritates me. The receptionist is afraid of the dogs, and the 2 other guys besides Shorty are always whining about something. I watch the show for a laugh. It's not a very serious rescue.

I think they need to get a real rescue ranch on TV, not a little person walking Pit Bulls gimmick.

his dog is allergic to anesthesia if you actually watched the show you might learn like. unlike irresponsible dog owners he actually watches over his and doesn't let him run around getting every dog he sees pregnant.

the show is also to raise awareness of pit and obviously it got your attention so its working.

do you not realize that's not the only thing he does? he is a role model not only for little people, but other people from his neighborhood, and people that have been convicted. I don't care that he doesn't have the 501(c)3 he's still rescuing these dogs and spends a lot of money on it. His rescue was not very big when the show first started, it was mostly just shortywood with a short person speaking out for pits. i'm sure once it gets big enough he will get a 501c3.

the one episode you saw when the girl was calling other rescues was because allthey'ree fosters were filled. At least someone is doing something for these dogs.

Animal never claimed to say that shorty is a full time rescue. he is a talent agency who on his spare time helps out pit bulls.they'ree pretty much showing that anyone with the heart can help. And if you watch a little closer shortydoesn'tt profit off of helping these dogs. look at how much money he splurges into them. He was even paying other people vet bills and to get them neutered.

There's good and bad. He's helping people recognize that all pits aren't bad dogs. but...

He's not a real rescue group, just a vigalante.

He picked a breed that could easily pull him down and escape, and if he's rescuing a dog that he doesn't know its temperment and it lunges at somebody while in his care, he's responsible legally.

He has a lot of liability and needs to start acting like a grown-up and not a child. At least don't break laws on tv, like trespassing. Easy evidence anyone?

His own dog has problems with anestesia, but there are now more and more non-surgical ways of steralizing a dog and he really should get a vet that will try another method.

My 7 year old son likes it. (Along with the rest of Animal Planet)

In all seriousness, they do seem to do a lot about awareness, which is really important considering the increasing number of BSL in the US. From what I can tell he doesn't house the dogs there, but they have a network of fosters who take in the dogs when possible. Even if he's not a 501, he still has to report donations as income and will be taxed for them.

Luckily, my state (Illinois) specifically prohibits BSL, although some cities (Chicago) are trying to get around it.

I do agree Shorty could do more to help the dogs. About Hercules not being neutered, Shorty explained on one episode that he attempted to have Hercules neutered, but he nearly died on the operating table due to a bad reaction to the anesthesia. I don't think the show should be cancelled. It shows people just how friendly, affectionate, and playful pit bulls really are-it helps the pit bull reputation.

Ya maybe left out a couple. It's never acceptable for a guy to ask for directions, no matter how lost he is. It is acceptable to forget birthdays and anniversaries, but never when they are yer moms. It's always OK to say, "Honey would you mind cookin, settin the table, cleanin up after, bathe the kids and get them to bed quietly, cuz I'm tryin to find the remote, the ball game is comin on. Oh yeah and can ya serve up a plate for me and bring it here?" It's perfectly OK to tell the S/O. I keep them under the mattress for security reasons but you only get Hustler and Playboy for the insightful articles.

Alot of the show doesn't even include dogs. And yes very good points. The biggest point rescues are trying to make today is "SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR PET!!!!" Plus he's not a rescue, I looked it up. They don't have the means to house animals. He's just a middle man.

Someone thought it would be cool and make alot of money to put 3 little people on the air 'rescuing' some pit bulls.
