Obama's health plan how affordable?

I'm not talking about tax dollars or any of that. I mean to a person who wants some coverage how much will these plans cost? I've been searching the web a bit and thus far all I've heard is affordable.

Since we don't have a final bill yet, the insurance companies have not been able to figure out what plans they will offer & how much those plans will cost.

It depends. Because ObamaCare will pool everyone regardless of age or health, it will cost young, healthy people more while old, ill seniors won't see costs increase all that much. But until a final version of the bill is created, there is no way to tell what individual rates will be.

However, go to the Congressional Budget Office website and you'll be able to find out how much the different bills cost (between $820 billion and $1 trillion to start).

Younger and healthier may pay a bit more for better coverage than they may have. However if they are covered by a company group plan there will be no change. Older less healthy folks not covered by a group plan will pay less than they have been paying.

I've been asking the same question with no results, so hopefully we can get an answer with something to back it up. I'd like to know how much the average family can expect to "save" under the new legislation.

  • My bet is you will pay the same for coverage while paying far more in taxes to cover the uninsured.

I will answer your question with a question. How much is your freedom worth?
