getting a terrible headache after drinking while on your period?
I have noticed that whenever my mom is on her period and every once in a while she drinks a little bit too much wine, the next morning is hell for her; she would always tell me it's the "worst headache ever" while blaming herself because she drank while on her period. I never knew what it felt like or what she was going through until now. About 2 months ago I went out with my friends, while on my period, and drank heavily to celebrate my 21st bday. This was the first time I got drunk while on my period, although I have been drunk before. I got home around 2 a.m. and went to bed. In a few hours I woke up with a headache but not a terrible one so I was able to fall back asleep. I woke back up at around 8 a.m. with the most pain I've ever been in. I had the WORST headache ever, worse than a migraine. I literally wanted to take chunks of my head out where it was hurting lol. So basically I now know that I will be like my mom in this area so I am wondering if anyone else is like this or if anyone knows why this is. Thanks! :)

Many women find themselves more sensitive to alcohol when on their periods. The fluctuation in estrogen levels can lead to a headache even without alcohol. The two together frequently cause headaches.
To avoid them in the future, always eat before you go out drinking. For every drink you have, order a glass of water (dehydration makes the headaches worse). A headache that awful can also mean you had mild alcohol poisoning.
In the future, once you start to feel that pleasant buzz, allow yourself one more drink... then stop or switch to water. It's just not worth the hell you have to suffer the day after.
Do your liver a favor... more water, less alcohol.

I get terrible headaches when I am pregnant. It's from all the hormones raging through your body. I start to get them from very early on, so they could possibly be a symtom of pregnancy, although they could also be a symptom of your period I suppose. good luck with it.
