Help with math problem? 10 pts. for best answer!?

Okay, so I don't understand this Hardy-Weinberg problem. It says:

If 45% of people within a population have blood type O (r), and 40% of population have

blood type A (p), find the percentage of people with blood types B (q) and AB (2pq).

I already know how to get r (it's .671) by taking the square root of .45, but when I tried to do the same thing for p, I got .63, which is wrong. The answer should be .251. Could someone please explain what I'm doing wrong and what how to find p?

Update:

I'm sorry, but the problems on the website were too simplistic. I needed a specific answer for my question. Can anyone please help me?
