Who were the most UNDER-rated R&B male, female & group of the 80's..and why?

Just the people you felt were NOT given enough credit or were totally overlooked.

Most under-rated R&B male of the 80's - FREDDY JACKSON

Played 2nd fiddle to Luther during the early to mid 80's... then when New Jack Swing came... only a few of the 'traditional r&b' artists survived. But dude can sing.

Most under-rated R&B female of the 80's - SHIRLEY MURDOCK

This was easy for me.. because her voice would be the stuff of legends... she just didn't get much material to work with I guess.

Most under-rated r&b group/band of the 80's - SOS BAND

Another easy one for me... While many of the bands of the 80's are too under-rated... SOS probably is the most considering how many great songs they made.

For most underrated male and group I agree. Freddie was right there with Luther Vandross, but never got the props Luther got. Same thing with SOS Band. But I think that the most underrated female would be either Phyllis Hyman or Angela Bofill. Both were outstanding singers but never really got the exposure that they deserved.

    Male is Michael Wycoff

    Female is Loleatta Hollaway

    Group is The Fatback Band.

Although very talented None of them were as successful as less talented artists.
