fisherman how much do you think this fish weighs?

I caught this fish Sunday from a pound where the people who own it don't like you to keep the big bass so I had to throw it back. I was fishing with a few other people but they booth said to different things. One said five the other said around 8 pounds. Since I couldn't keep it I didn't get a chance to weigh it.By the picture alone how much do you think it weighs?

    Nice catch!!

I'd say between 5 & 6 pounds. Next time try measuring your catch against your fishing rod. Then when you get home and have a measuring tape measure the length against your rod and plug the results into the link below. It is not exact but pretty close. If you can carry a fabric measuring tape you will get a closer reading.

Very nice fish. I would say in the lower 6 range. The hard thing to gauge is the belly section. A fish that was 5 and 1/2 lbs can weight 6 1/2 pounds easily but gorging in the spring or fall time.

Regardless you should be proud of your catch!

superb Fish. stable Estimation could be around 4 lbs. relies upon on what the fish has been feeding on (shad, crawfish, etc). right here is the math: Assuming your hand and mine are with regard to an identical length, by way of finding on the midsection finger decrease than the fishes abdomen, you may get a measurable unit from the midsection knuckle to the top of the finger. it particularly is on an identical intensity to the digital camera as is the fish. Your center finger, knuckle to tip is measurable down the size of the fish 10 cases. Assuming the fish's mouth grow to be closed and tail fanned (as required by way of state organic international and game enforcement) My center finger from knuckle to tip is approx. 2.a million inches. 2.1in. X 10 = 21 inches. Assuming that it particularly is a reasonably precise measurement, 21 inches. we are in a position to then insert it right into a fish weight equation. WEIGHT = length x GIRTH² / shape element length - 21 Girth - approx. 15 inches (that is consistent with averages. A fish of 21 inches. will incredibly much continuously have a girth of approx. 15inches.) shape element - 1200 Weight = 21 x 15² / 1200 Weight = 4725 / 1200 Weight = 3.9375 LBS that is all approx. besides the fact that it supply you an exceptionally close estimate. superb fish!

I would say it looks to be in the six pound range as well.

There are numerous sites out on the web (I think Mespps has one on their site) that provide weight calculators based on the length and girth.

If you know the measurements, you might try one of them!
