Can they do this?? Please help texting question?!?
okay, today in school, (im in eighth grade) my friend texted me, but she was home. i replied and we had a little bit of a conversation, but then she said she was in school too and had to stop texting. then later during the day, her cell phone got taken away because another person was playing with it and the teacher saw it, and took away her phone. to make a long story short, her mom & the principal are probably going to look through her texts to see if she was texting during class, (which she & i both were) but she's afraid they will look through her sent messages, which she doesnt want her mom to see. so my question is, can they look through her outbox on her cell phone?? also, will i get in trouble if they look through her inbox?

Both the principal and the mother can go through her phone. Her mom can order her complete texts from the carrier. You both deserve the trouble you're in.

Probably yes on all accounts. There are rules about texting in school, and if you broke the rules, you deserve to have your phone taken away.
You should always be careful about what you text. If you don't want someone to find out, don't text it because phone history is easily accessible.

Well duh if you can look in your in-box you can definitely look in the outbox. I don;t know if you would get in trouble. But i don't understand why they would go through her phone. I wouldn't worry about it if a teacher didn't catch you then i think you shouldn't worry about it.

she doesn't have to let them see it. she will probably get in trouble but she should just admit that she texted so they won't have to look though her phone.
