Ich isn't going away with meds or heat + salt?

I noticed ich when I added my tiger barb, I caught it right away in the first day, did a water change then gradually turned the heat up and gradually added aquarium salt. Did not work, the tiger barb had more on him after 3 days. So i did one 50% water change and started treatment with mardel maracide, and now the tiger barb doesn't have any on him, but another fish (giant danio) has a few. Not only does another fish have ick, but this was 5 days ago when he got it and they haven't moved or fallen off or any change at all. He is acting normally but there are 3 other fish that do not have it, and the original tiger barb who had it has been hiding and not eating. what can i do while i'm still treating? This has been about 8 or 9 days total with ich in the tank and don't know what else i can do to help the danio with the parasites and also the tiger who is anti-social and not eating?

I don't like copper, for whatever reason.

What I DO like is malachite green + formalin. Strong stuff. I was dealing with a resistant strain in a retail system that took everything I threw at it for over a month, until I got my hands on this stuff (I used Kordon Rid Ich+). Took it out in a couple days.

    What sized tank?

How many Tiger barbs and Danios do you have?

    Is the tank cycled?

First of all, the heat method doesn't require anything but gradually raising temperature. The thing that you didn't do was wait and is why the fish still have Ich and why it's spreading. Using harsh medications and salt are a waste of time when heat is all you need. It usually takes 2 weeks of temperatures of 86-88 degrees or as much as the fish can stand. You should even keep the temp high for a few days after all spots have vanished to be sure that every parasite has deceased. During this time, doubling up of gravel vacuuming and turning up the air pump with help the fish and the tank get healthier as well.

I recommend you use some activated carbon to remove the medicines along with a 50% water change and try the heat method again. Please, don't use any more salt as freshwater fish are called such for a reason.

Just remember that both Tiger Barbs and Giant Danios really should be in groups of at least 6 to establish pecking order (hierarchy). Check out the links and good luck.

I have usu8ally trust maracide but in cases of severe Ick, you should use copper sulfate solution. This will cure Ick and prevent it from coming back for at least a month. You can get it good aquaculture stores. It usually works overnight as it kills all invertebrates, so if you have snails, it will get them too. however, I assume your main concern is your fish. Do keep up the heat and salt, you just need stronger Ick medicine.

My mother lives on Long Island I live in Manhattan so there are times I have to take a cold train ride for an hour. I always have the poeple at Aquarium Adventure add a tiny bit of copper solution to my bagged fish. I have never gotten a case of Ick in transport!

Ich takes numerous weeks to do away with all existence cycles interior the tank. a week's trip should not be long adequate to kill the healthful fish. the only ones i may well be demanding approximately are ones with ich on their substantial physique different than fins tail and gills. ensure you upload better water agitation for oxygen until now going away.

Well if any more develop ich, you should get some CopperSafe. It wont kill the bacteria in the tank like the other ones will.
