Is Windows 7 any good, or should I cut my losses and buy a Mac?

I have a laptop, running ( ha, ha,) Vista Home Premium. I have an external hard drive ( 500 Gb ).

I can do the update, but have been ( expletive withheld ) 'd off with MS for years.

Update:

Sy, it might just be bad luck. The the last 2 MS operating systems I've had have been Me and Vista. I know people who are still running Xp happily.

Windows 7 is Vista. I have no problem with the Vista I have been using in my laptop for almost 2 years now and have been using Windows 7 in the desktop I have built for about 2 weeks now. Windows 7 is faster but then I am running an AMD 965 and 8GB's of ram in the desktop. The laptop has dual core AMD Turion with 4GB's of ram. Not really a fair comparison. Have spent the last 2 weeks trying to work around the things I do not like in Windows 7 and make it like Vista. Taskbar, Quick Launch, and the right hand side of the start menu. Have no use for those libraries, Homegroups, and dislike the folder icons. I am about 75% of the way there. Point is if you do not like Vista and get a bad taste in your mouth at the mere mention of the word Microsoft maybe you should try a Mac. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

Windows 7 is very good, been using it since the release candidate became available. That was a free test pre-release incase you didnt know. Anyway, there's basically no difference in architecture between a mac and a pc now. you can even run the mac os on a pc, i know because i have done it. even on an amd chip!

Long story short, you neednt spend a colosul amount of money on a mac, get a pc for the same money if you can afford it and it will tournce any mac in performance. If you're not fussed about battery life get a core i7 based computer, very good processor that. If you dont want to spend a fortune still get a pc, spec for your pound wise a pc is always better. apple over charge, end of story on that one.

But yeah, win 7 is brilliant and theres no need for getting a mac. not unless you really really want one or you are well versed in UNIX because otherwise you wont be ale to take full advantage of the operating system. Just my two cents worth but i think its a valid opinion.

Source(s): I understand processor architecture down to the logic gate level.

Sounds like you're already disgruntled with MS and have made a decision...but if not I think Windows 7 is way better than any version of Vista. Keep in mind that if you go Mac, it's not the same interface..you'll have to install parallels or something to put Windows on it, or relearn your new OS. Good luck in either direction. ;)

I really like Windows 7. Vista was Microsoft's biggest virus since Win ME. I haven't used a Mac in years, so not much help to you there.

I like it, but if you want to buy a mac buy a mac, I don't own Apple stock.
