Should I purchase the XBOX 360 wireless N adapter?
I just recently moved and now I don't have my computer in my room. I mean I can always set up the XBOX Arcade outside of my room but I'd rather not. I've always heard bad things of the adapters that are out there. So that leaves me to wonder:
-What are some of the problems?
-Will it work with Verizon FIOS Actiontec MI424WR router? If so will it have some problems? I heard that the wireless N adapter works best With N routers. Is my router an N router?
The XBOX 360 Arcade is placed about 80-100 ft away from the router as well.
Thank you for your time.

Don't Unless you REALLY have to. Vipper88d.. mentioned that you can buy a USB adapter for your Xbox, and that is NOT TRUE!! Usually for those adapters to work you need to install some type of software with your computer, which you cannot do with your Xbox because it does not run windows, and therefore you cannot install the proper drivers on it.
You can plug it into a laptop, but note both must be running at the same time to work, which will consume more power.
If you want to take this route, here is a tutorial on how to do this.

You can also try finding a router that can accept an incoming wireless signal, and distribute it through the Ethernet port. Which would also be alot cheaper. However, a regular Ethernet cable is better for online gaming and downloading but seeing your situation, you might just have to buy the Xbox adapter, as well as a wireless repeater if the signal is too weak.
Repeater>> http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/products/WRE54...
Yes the adapter will work with your router
No the Actiontec in not Wireless N.
The Actiontec is Wireless G, which is a step down from Wireless N. It only works best with Wireless N because Wireless N is the fastest type of wireless network so far.
And too Vipde88d, what is the point of a gigabyte router when your internet connection is not able to support a gigabyte yet? Unless your transferring such huge files between computers, but It wont help with Live.
Good luck

well obviously technology isnt perfect lol - but i hear the new N adapter they make is much better than old white one. however i do believe that almost any lil usb n adapter should work, only problem is that they are all kinda expensive. (i know microsoft one is like $50-100 depending where u find it and others are round there as well)
if it is plausible to run ethernet (cat-5) cable to where u want it go (such as through the attic and then drop it down or run it along wall or w/e u wanted to do) i definitely would considering thats always cheaper and more reliable, especially if u just buy a roll of ethernet cable or have someone that might know how to get it and then cap it off is much better. connections kinda depends on ur house, etc, so wires is usually always better
alternately tho, if you have a laptop, you can run the ethernet cable into your laptop and use ur laptop to provide the internet to your 360.
your router should work considering its a 802.11b/g router and so is the microsoft adapter (even tho im pretty sure thats basic connection) just stinks ur router is 10/100 instead of a gigabit

i honestly recommend you dont if your trying to download off marketplace it goes incredibly slow even if you have a fast router and sometimes connection suck just stick with ethernet
