Women's Basketball a joke?
Why do we have the WNBA. From my understanding, the league can't even hold its own. It has to be subsidized by the NBA to cover its expenses. It is professional sports, not a charity. I don't think it is fair we live in a world where athletes make more in a year than most people make in a lifetime. As a business scholar I appreciate good business comes with good profits; however, in this case we are paying these women way more than they are worth. "NBA Cares" seems like a good idea, why don't they scratch women's ball and spend their money of something worth a damn, instead of just trying to open up a market for women that doesn't really exist in the name of "equality"
Thanks Eddie. But despite their fan base, they are not covering cost. I understand that the highest paid star probably makes about the minimum of an NBA player. But you are missing my point about how they have to be subsidized just to play. Why should we pay them so much money when they are not earning the money? I don't care if we pay Peyton Manning 20 million a year, as long as he helps to bring in that income and indianapolis is still making a profit.

There is a fan base for women basketball, maybe not the fan base that the male have but there is definitely the fan base for it. it is not like only a 100 people show up and the NBA is just keeping it around for the fun of it.
Also women basketball players are not nearly making the money of the men, Most of these women are making no more than someone that has a 2 years degree.
Most of these teams entire salary is no more than the 12th man of a NBA player. In other words that man who does not play who is the 12th man of a NBA team his salary is more than all 15 players of a WNBA team.
Maybe the WNBA is not worth a damn to you but it is worth a damn to a lot of people and I feel you are not forced to watch it, you are not force to support it so why do you care.
It is not like a tax that you have to support, so when the WNBA game comes on TV turn it off, if a game comes to your arena then do not go to it,
Believe me if the arena were empty then the WNBA would not exists.

Because they was to playing in front of the family and friend. They play for their country International
and win 95%. They draw large in crowds around the World. They make their money off season in foreign countries. What they get paid in the WNBA is a lot money most of their players. Maybe the 25% makes good money.And it benefit the NBA International. Some cities with teams are doing well
Their are men teams in Pro sport now are getting help from the their leagues today.And you are not loseing a dime on any of their players.And the NBA see them been worth a damm!!!
