If CPS removes kids what is the time spent w/CPS before kids given to grandparents, what happens kids until the?

My daughter's addicted to script drugs, and has had 3 car wrecks ( totaled one car, over 10 grand damage 2 other times) all wrecks are her fault & shes high each time, on 11/02, 12/31,01/29 . Her husband is in the army, he's a staff Sargent, he knows that shes high & allows his daughter to leave w/ the mom( doesn't stop them) each wreck. We call the army chaplain in jan, he talks to him and his commanding officer ( he convinces them theres no problem) WE call them again in feb because things haven't changed, 2 chaplains confront him & my daughter & His CO. They tell them they will get help for the drug problem and they can handle it. Yesterday I . go see chaplain in person( drive 100 miles to talk in person) & show evidence of 8 scripts of so ma bought from internet from 12/28 - 03/15 scripts of 120 each time.. He says he can talk to son in law & he either can agree to get my daughter help (which probably means a treatment program in patient) 30- 90 days. If he refuses, the chaplain calls CPS to report that kids are in unsafe place. How long does it take for us to get kids from CPS, one child is her husbands bio child she s 2 1/2 yr, our grandson is not& his bio dad not part of his life) we also had custody of him from age 1- age 4 ( will be six in mAy) we gave back custody to daughter because we thought all was good now.Dec was a year ago.. Our grandson has spent 90% of his life in our home. He considers this home. Our daughter moved away 13 mo ago & took him with her, he has had a bad time transitioning & doesn't want to be there & he knows mom does drug. So since moving there we have had him every other week, he just alternates living between there & here. MOm doesn't want him to come here anymore now because he told us about the drugs. Our son in law has promised us repeatedly that he would get daughter help & hasn't. If he doesn't cooperate and the kids are taken how long do kids have to stay with CPS until we can get them. There is no one else to take the kids except us especially the child that isn't our daughters husband. So we're it. We don't the kids to be in this situation period, but if they are what do we need to do to get them safely with us asap. I am terrified of the trauma they will go through, especially our grandson who knows tahat we will always take care of him he never has to worry about being cared for. ( A big fear this last year of his)

This is all a maybe since the children have not been removed by CPS. IF CPS investigates and IF the children are removed they may not give you placement. You wouldn't get custody...the children would be in the state's custody, you would be relative caregivers, like foster parents. Also, it depends if you live locally to the mother. If the children are removed the mother will be offered reunification services. The biggest factor in reunification is visitation. The mother will be having visits at least once a week, likely more often. So if you don't live in the same area as her you wouldn't be considered a good placement because lack of visitation would inhibit the mother's reunification.

If the children are removed, the social worker will try and contact all family they can locate. Let them know you are interested in placement or adoption if needed. If the mother fails at reunifying with the children (the case could be 6, 12, or even 18 months) only then will they look at adoption or placement out of state (at least in California).

First off there is a chance you won't get them at all. But the CPS is a government agency. They take as long as they take and in the mean time the kids will be in foster care or a state facility.
