Does the Opt Out option in SPAM mail really work?

I get several spam emails daily, I would imagine it is about the standard amount that most people get... Most of the SPAM emails have an option where you can enter your email address and they will remove you from their contact list.

My question: does it really work, will they completely remove my email address, or am I just giving my email address to more of their "other companies" .

Update:

Sometime valid email gets sent into my SPAM and it will be addressed to me "not just person" and I will open it, that is how I get to the Opt out option.

Sometimes I am not sure it is Spam until I open it.

Do not EVER open mail from someone you do not know - ever. Never, ever open spam mail, that includes looking for a unsubscribe button - they never work in spam! Opening spam alerts the sender that your address is a valid one and they send you loads and loads more. If you are getting repeat mails, then ask yourself this: did you subscribe to it? If yes, then open one of them and look toward the bottom of the page, there should be a button or a link where you can 'unsubscribe.' Click on it and fill out the form or follow instructions. You should now be unsubscribed.

If you did not subscribe to it, or they do not unsubscribe you, then treat it as the spam that it is. Check mark the mail items and click on the 'spam' button, then delete, or allow Yahoo to delete.

Look for the 'Options' link at upper right corner of mail screen and click on it

    Options /mail options

Click on 'spam' in the list on the left.

Make sure spam guard is on, by checking in the little box.

If they continue to sent these to you, you can block that address.

Look for the 'Options' link at upper right corner of mail screen and click on it

    Options /mail options

Click on 'spam' in the list on the left.

Then in 'Blocked Email Addresses,' enter the E-mail address you wish blocked, in the box after 'Add a blocked address' and click on the 'add' button, then click on save changes at top left of screen.

You will never get mail from that address again.

Because most know you should never open, reply or unsubscribe to spam email. This just puts you on spam lists, as someone who opens and reads spam..thus you get more. Yahoo cannot monitor what people put on their emails Most arent even using Yahoo mail. 80% of all email sent is spam. Spammers arent going to send mail to anyone for approval before sending it. It just isnt do-able.

Opt Out does work but I had to first get my virus checker to allow me to access spam opt out addresses. Next I had to tell yahoo that spam was not spam to get it out of spam folder so I could access the opt out ability. Then I had to opt out of spam so now I get very little new spam pr none at all.

No! It's just a way to confirm your address, and give possible give them ip information. My question to you would be how do you even see that "opt out" option? You shouldn't even be opening ANY of those emails.
