British citizen returning to UK and needs help with uni financing...?

I am British citizen who is returning to live in the UK full-time and attend uni. I am having problems getting student loans because most banks and the government require 3 years residency prior to applying for the loan. I am trying to find other options and want to know if anyone has been in the same situation and what solutions you found. Thanks in advance for the help.

I empathise, it's not an easy one! They do let you away with the residency requirement if you were out of the country for educational purposes. If you were at school abroad or completed a course abroad over the previous three year period that would cancel out residency problems. You could always pretend you were living at a relative's house all this time... though I know we hate to twist the truth in these situations! Also, I'm not sure if you're going for undergraduate or postgraduate studies. If it's postgrad there are bodies you can apply to for funding. In the humanities it's the AHRC in the UK, sorry I don't know your field of study so I can't be more specific. Meanwhile, just read ALL the fine print on the government loans website and you may find a solution there, I'm sure there are other exception clauses with regard to the residency status. Best of luck!
