pizza hut delivery tips?

I ordered 2 pizzas from Pizza Hut today. On the bill was a $2.50 delivery fees added. Was this delivery fee for the delivery and the tips to the driver separate? I was confused and so I tipped the driver $2.00 for 2 pizzas. Total for the delivery was $4.50 in addition to the $22.00 for the pizzas.

Did I do the right thing?

I think they started including tips in the final bill. I wondered this too until I finally called the restaurant and asked. Still, it's not a wrong thing to give a little extra... especially to someone that handles your food. Always treat people that handle your food and bring it to you nicely or you might unknowingly be eating something horribly disgusting.

The more they like you the more likely they might give you freebies like free bread sticks (the jerk that doesn't tip extra just lost his bread sticks!).

It's like a good karma thing. Eventually, it works out better in the end.

Delivery drivers get no part of the delivery fee, that I know of. The delivery fee is just another charge the stores add on to make more money. I think it's a ripoff because it doesn't cost them any more to delivery it. Next they'll be charging us for the box they put the pizza in just like grocery stores are starting to charge for bags. I usually tip about $3.00 per pizza. Those guys are out there driving their own cars in all kinds of weather and having to pay their own gas and repairs, etc.

Pizza Hut doesn't give their drivers the $2.00 (unless it is franchised, then they might). The fact these drivers could deliver 4 orders in an hour, makes me realize that $2 is a total of $8 and hour. Probably paying their wage if not more. My order always ends up $19.59 - I always tip $10.41.

    Gotta make it even.

You definitely should have paid the driver. You should tip your pizza deliverer just the same as you would anyone else in the serving industry. Most people don't and they are usually the ones that hurt the most for it. Hardly any of that "delivery fee" is going to go to the driver, but it will go to the company's pocket.

    you did the right thing.

those are 2 completely separate things.

drivers just get tips from customers directly. that's all

additional charge directly goes to the company.

    no worries.

Yes you should. You tip based on the service, not the size of pizza you order.

Yes u did the right thing but, when i order there is no "delivery fee", so i think u got ripped off dude

I think you did right. they probably ripped you off anyway. You should look up their company website and see if its their policy so you'll know next time.
