  • Wire transfer error responsibility?

International wire transfer. Originating bank made a mistake of typing in wrong acccount number but

correctly spelled out the beneficiary of the account. Depositing bank received the account number but no beneficiary name from an intermediate bank, went ahead and deposited the amount into the wrong account number without validating the missing beneficiary account name.

This happened 25 days ago. We notced this week (day 20). Bank trying to get the amount from

the account where the funds were wrongfully deposited, claiming legal obligations requires them

to notify the account holder. Meanwhile, we are stuck without working capital for current projects

and the originating bank will not resend the wire transfer without seeing their funds back.

Who's fault is this and is there a speedier way of getting this resolved?

  • pizza hut delivery tips?

I ordered 2 pizzas from Pizza Hut today. On the bill was a $2.50 delivery fees added. Was this delivery fee for the delivery and the tips to the driver separate? I was confused and so I tipped the driver $2.00 for 2 pizzas. Total for the delivery was $4.50 in addition to the $22.00 for the pizzas.

Did I do the right thing?

  • Any recourse for bad company checks in Texas?

We received two bad checks from a company in an amount over $10,000.00. We were told there may be a chance for recovery with the District Attorney's office? This is more effective and less costly than going through a collection agency. Is this true? .

  • Is U.S. Priority International Postage safe?

I've sent 2 packages to Mexico on 2 separate days almost 1 month ago. See attached tracking info. The packages never got delivered. I called the post office and was told there's no tracking on the packages once it leaves the country. Based on the information from the USPS website, there's no evidence it ever left U.S.!

I paid $10.40 for each package and there were some valuables insides as well....of course it was not insured but I want to know if I'm eligible to get a refund for the 2 x $10.40 or $20.80 at least.

Is the U.S. Post Office responsible for lost packages on Priority International Mail?

The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on March 28, 2009 to expect your package for mailing. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date. Delivery status information will be provided if / when available. No further information is available for this item.

  • What's a reasonable cost for fixing a toilet?

My toilet assembly is old and the water fills the tank but overflows into the overflow valve. I called a "licensed" plumber and their initial estimate was $172.60 replacing the entire internals of the tank.

Back in my primary residence, I had a handyman repair the same thing and he charged $35 plus the cost of the parts which was around $18. As far as I can tell, the toilet works fine after the repair by the handyman.

So... why is it the licensed plumber charges $172.60 whereas the handyman can do the work for $53?

Do plumbers belong to an union or am I just being ripoff?

I've seen claims made on eBay auctions for these reflectors claiming they'll reflect up to 80% from back of fireplaces into the rooms making your fireplace more efficient.

Can they really save heating fuel?
