Hi I know what your asking but if your not use to seeing it it something new but old. When we do not get the rain we need its the easiest way to water your tree. Here at home we use gallon jugs with small holes poked in bottom so water will slowly leak out near tree so it helps. I have also seen buckets with rags hang out to ground so that water seeps to ground not sure if gravity has something to do with it but I tried it and it worked. But hope this helps.PS i have also seen people take freezer full of water hanging near doors and porches was told it resembled a hornets nest to keep flies away had to try it cause i live on a farm lol it worked.

It's an inexpensive way to give trees/plants deep watering. They usually drill small holes to keep the water going in small amounts for a long period of time therefore giving the tree a deep watering. This is similar to drip systems using pipes to do the same job.
