Why do I periodically lose internet connection for my desktop (only last week)?

My kids' laptops are not losing connection. Why is my desktop? We have a Cox modem and a router for wireless.

First thing is make sure your connection from router to pc is connected good on both ends.

You need to reset the modem and router in the right order. Theres two ways:

Option 1 is if you have a Cox Telephony Modem (it will be black and have lights on the front such as telephone 1 and telephone 2) Unplug power cord to router and lay it down, on the back of the modem there is a tiny hole that says either reboot or reset and you would push a toothpick or paper clip in there. Every modem has this so just look for it. After about 1 min to a min and a half, plug back in router.

Option 2 if you dont have Cox phone: Unplug power cord to both modem and router. Plug router in, wait the same time frame and then plug back in router.

This will reset everything in right order and get the router pulling the right information.
