I don't like the term "agnostic" because, in terms of religion, it can mean two things:

You believe in a supreme being but you do not believe that his existence can be or ever will be proven

You do not believe in a supreme being and you do not believe that his existence can be or ever will be proven.

So atheists can be agnostic. I don't think that there is a special word for atheists who believe that a god does not exist, although there are those types of atheists, too.

    I am an agnostic atheist.

Agnostic is a person who believes that nothing can be known concerning the existence of God.

An atheist, on the other hand is a person who believes that God does not exist altogether.

Based on moments of comparison, agnostics allow for the possibility of a God while atheists have ruled him out completely.

An atheist doesn't believe that there's a god or any higher power. An agnostic is one that doesn't rule out the possibility of a higher power, but it doesn't have to be of a specific religion/faith.

In Greek, gnosis = knowledge, theos = god.

An atheist has no belief of gods.

an agnostic has no certainty of knowledge.

Agnostic can mean non-certainty of any information, but in religion it means not being certain about beliefs.

So, an agnostic Christian would believe in Jesus, but accept that he couldn't be 100% sure. Similarly an agnostic atheist would have no belief of gods, but would not be certain that there are no gods. Gnostic people have certainty in their beliefs. Most Christians, Muslims, etc are gnostic, and most atheists are agnostic.

Atheism is a stance on belief: atheists don't BELIEVE in any gods.

Agnosticism is a stance on knowledge: an agnostic hold the position that it's impossible to KNOW whether any gods exist.

You can be either, neither, or both.

atheist have made up their mind while an agnostic is holding out for the proof and won't say for 100 percent dead positive

for example you might ask an atheist and an agnostic the same ?

    Do you believe in God?

    Atheist "NO"

    Agnostic "Not Yet"

Atheist - Doesn't believe in any God

Agnostic - Believes there is something there but isn't entirely sure what. Therefore I am agnostic.

An Atheist claims there is no God and usually lives on blind faith, claiming he/she does not live on faith and claims there is no evidence for God. An Agnostic claims that he/she has not yet been shown or discovered enough evidence to say definitively there is or is not a God.

For a good mix of examples, you might try this question I answered earlier:

How can you clam that God exists when there is no evidence.?

For something to exist their must be proof of its existence. Since their is no evidence to support that God exists how can you support a claim that she does?
