car starts then cuts out after 2 seconds, please help!!?

Hi, got a 1997 daihatsu charade. It was working fine a few days ago. I went to start it this morning, it started up fine but only for literally 2 seconds then it just cuts out. When i tried again I kept the petrol pedal pressed but the rev counter only increases slightly and still only cuts out after 2 secs. They about a second afer I hear a noise that like gas being released or something.

I just bought a new battery a few months ago so not that.

Please help as I need my car to get to work!

there are a number of issues that should reason the indicators which you're experiencing. the superb thank you to circulate is to get a song up. wiped out spark plugs, unchanged gasoline filters or broken gasoline pump, ignition wires, can all reason idling/dying issues. If the vehicle is a carbureted automobile then idling might properly be adjusted for a extra robust idle save it from stalling. no rely if this is a gasoline injected automobile, this is hooked as much as a diagnostic gadget at a close-by storage to envision for any electric appropriate mess ups that should reason it to die.

First order of checking, since it cranks, it might be an air lock in the fuel line. Do some fuel bleeding.

Check the camshaft position sensor, if its unplugged, wire broken, or the sensor itself has given up, then the car will briefly start, the computer will not get a read from the sensor, and immediately shut down the motor to prevent damage.

your fuel pump is priming so it starts but it is shutting down after that. check the volts on the fuel pump. last check the fuel filter

It could also be the idle air control valve. I had the same problem with my Jeep. 20 bucks and 20 minutes to fix.

could be the fuel filter starting to clog up.
