It is by far the best explanation for the evidence observed and routinely predictions made by the theory have been confirmed. (For example, scientists know from fossil records that at a certain point in history, amphibians existed and before that there is no fossil record, but there are fossils of fish that are somewhat similar to early amphibians. They then went to a region that had been at the shore line during the predicted period of history and dug into the layer that was at the surface at that time and, sure enough, found a fossil of an animal that was somewhere between a fish and an amphibian. That, along with many other similar examples provides some excellent evidence.)

Since that's the standard for evaluating a scientific theory, I accept it, acknowledging that, like all scientific theories, there is much room for revision. If there weren't, there wouldn't be scientists studying the field today. I'm especially excited by the interaction with the new field of epigenetics to explain how relatively small changes in genes can lead to large transformations from one species to another. It's a very exciting time in the field.

certain the church has a lengthy history of rejecting reality. a reliable celebration is the rejection of a heliocentric image voltaic gadget, even in spite of the actuality that this were prevalent for thousands of years, in fact beforehand christianity arose. As with the heliocentric universe not all societies rejected the type, basically the religiously indoctrinated one. do not imagine that your society reflects the better human society or maybe the lesser society contained in the land you stay in. because the saying is going, you may fool all the persons lots of the time or lots of the persons for all time yet you won't be able to fool each and each of the persons each and each of the time. you're among the lots of the persons.

I am a conservative who accepts evolution.

However, I can not rule out the possibility that evolution is just a tool used by our supreme creator.

There is far too much scientific proof that evolution has played a significant role in our world but I do believe it is quite arrogant for anyone to say because of evolution "there is no God" there was no creator.

The fact that life exists or we exist here at all is somewhat of a miracle... Don't you think???

    Accept, of course.

I'm saddened to see anyone writing they reject this well studied and accepted scientific theory. Can't you believe in God AND science?

I'm disappointed so many here don't know what the word "theory" means in the science world. That's as hard as facts get in science, as in the "theory" of gravity. In science there's always space to reevaluate if new information is discovered but for the last 40 or so years, this theory has been shown to be accurate.

Accept - though of course in reality by accept I mean "it is the best way of explaining the facts that we currently have". It may well turn out we need a new theory, there have been some interesting (and astounding) aspersions cast about genes changing due to the environment and successive generations being affected by stress caused to their grandparents.

    Accept - liberal.

Evolution is not a theory, it's scientific fact that biological organism change their physiology over long periods of time to adapt to environmental changes.

That being said....whether or not evolution was the basis for all life to begin with,,, remains a mystery...

Evolution might be the intelligent part of life's design....science will never prove or disprove this.

Accept. And will accept any other explanation except for the one of the misogynistic, vile, racist and corrupt God of the Bible or Koran for that matter.

@ Conor F: Gravity is a law not a theory, two different things.

I accept it as a theory. I do not accept at all the biblical idea of an earth five thousand years old or the earth created in seven days, or woman created from the rib of a man.

That's nonsense. Whatever or if ever we do learn our origins it won't be that one.

    I'm a Democrat.
