Christians, what are your thoughts and attitudes about evangelization?

How do you personally act in that area?

Well personally sometimes I find it is more off putting than many Christians think, also it kind of gives off a "holier than thou" vibe that many people just don't like.

I feel evangelizing is more for the evangelist than God or the audience.

So personally I think preaching should be done in churches and among others who get the message.

When you start doing it outside of those environments it kind of looses its meaning, it becomes more spectacle than spiritual.

I think people should seek out spirituality on their own, not have it preached to them on subways and street corners.

When you seek it out for yourself its more about your personal search and less about someone coaxing you into it.

Thus fostering a more honest adherence to the spiritual philosophy.

I find this quote always works for me when it comes to my type of "evangelizing."

"Preach the gospel at all times...if necessary use words"

I try to use my works to express my spirituality by being a positive person, offering my help when I can and always looking for a better way to understand myself and others.

If someone wants to know more about it then at the necessary time we will confer after they have inquired.

Its much more personal and less confrontational than "soap box preaching."

But hey that is just my tiny opinion, to each their own.

    Peace and Blessings = )

Most of the tv stuff is crap to get money or attention, I believe there should be missionaries to preach the gospel..there are people that need to hear it and people searching for it, but if they say they aren't interested then back off because we all have the right to believe what we believe (or don't believe). Personally, if I am asked or feel the impression to share something I will share it, other than that I try to just be a good person and be an example through my actions.

I think that the idea of evangelization has gone insane. We are to preach the good news, but once it is heard and rejected we are to move on. To bombard people with the gospel, when they want no part of it, is not only counter productive it's bordering on cruel. The best form of evangelization is living a life that is a good example.

Chances are high that he was a troll looking to cause trouble and stir up resentment against Jews. The 'superior' thing is just one indication that he's not Jewish, but is immersed in stereotypical and bigoted thinking about us. If any of his posts are still on the the forum, send me a link and I'll take a look. There are usually a lot of give-aways. (Re Chaya's answer: we have a lot of problems in Y!A with (probably just a few) people (with many accounts) making up false scenarios. I thought your Q might be one of those too, but realized the likelihood of someone doing the same sort of thing elsewhere on the net and how bewildering it would be to someone unfamiliar with it. It happens a lot; see it often enough and the signs become all too familiar.)

I've never evangelized and I doubt I ever will. It's just not my way. However, I do as my dad always suggested and if a person seems open to it i.e. we've been discussing religion, I invite the person to church. I've actually had friends ask me about my church. When they do, I talk to them about it. I prefer to let my actions speak rather than speak myself.

The most spiritual woman I ever met in my life, one who practiced rather than just preached Christianity, had been heavily influenced by Eastern religions.

I compare anyone who comes preaching Christianity to this woman. If they have her holy nature, her joy, her beautiful soul, then they are worthy to preach the Gospel.

I think if someone wants to preach to me and save my soul, they had better have their own house in order first. Just being human is proof enough for me that they don't. If you want to be an evangelist, live a life that would make people come up and ask you how you do it. THEN tell them.

Well, I don't get on tv and shoot at the top my lungs and have people fall to the ground convulsing and what not.

I do believe it is very important to get the gospel into the hands of those who want it. This very rarely happens through tv and radio campaigns, most of us came to know God by someone personally telling us about God.

I share my Faith with everybody I can. My church has a team that goes out every saturday and just talks to people about God. I have led many people to Jesus and hope you can do the same.

    It would be

"And he said to them, Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation." - Mark 16:15

Evangelizing should be active, yet treated with gentleness and respect. Also, truth should not be conformed.
