Fun neighborhood to stay in San Francisco?
I'm going to San Francisco for a weekend and am trying to figure out where to stay. I'm looking for a safe neighborhood that has some nightlife and places my boyfriend and I can go out and grab a couple drinks.
Any help would be great. Thanks!
The one thing I know is that I don't want to stay in the Tenderloin.

I would recommend getting a hotel at Fisherman's Wharf or around Union Square. Those areas are close to some great neighborhoods and it wouldn't cost much for cab ride to places like North Beach where there is tons of action. It is walking distance but still a long walk.

Union Square is probably a good bet, lots of options for hotels, restaurants and bars.
But if you want real fun try North Beach.
