Is Pokémon Silver/Gold becoming popular in your area?

Okay, so for some reason the new Pokémon is becoming really popular at my high school. I have noticed a lot of people with the Pokéwalkers and I am just really surprised of the sudden comeback. One of my really good friends is playing and I didn't even know he had a DS. But, I have been looking into it, and it looks really cool oddly enough. I loved the original ones when I was around 6 or so, and stopped playing them somewhere around when I turned 9 or 10. I just think it is really cool of it's comeback, and if I should see if I can get a DS, just because I am kind of jealous and want it. But, is this epidemic happening anywhere else?

I think the reason why is because its a remake.  Gold/ silver were my favorite of the series so I was immediately excited to hear about it.  Now I have to buy a ds though :(
