Has there ever been anything like the health care bill big voted in without bipartisan and public support?

Obviously there is a pretty big split. Count it as you may but it has been at least 50-50 with a tilt towards disapproval of this thing. But it was made into law. Are there other major laws that have been enacted this way?

Update:

Ok - Molly - I might agree there but I think that there was bipartisan support to start that (Clinton, Kerry, etc).

Update 2:

Ok Adolf (nice moniker) - I asked the question. MSNBC is one entity and where is your link showing so? Pollster has a conglomerate of polls and shows oppose: 50.5 and approve 41.5.

Update 3:

Do any of you have links or anything to support your posts?

Say hello to the new world order. You dont have a choice, they are not going to listen. You have to get active and fight this thing. Honestly I dont think its 50/50. The news shows 54 want it 10 dont know and 36 want it. I don't think that's true either. Every one I know, knows its bad. Iv seen way more opposition on the net the 54/36. More like 70/30.
