I have my biases but I attempt to be fair in my answers and provide info if I can find it. I like to research so consider this site interesting. I'm not real fond of people at this site that like to call names in questions and answers so generally will thumbs down those.
What is the reasoning behind US representatives having terms of 2 years and US Senate having terms of 6 years?
Is there a historical reason to this?
1 AnswerGovernment9 years agoDo you think the latest debate really made a difference?
Meaning for undecideds ... was there much to sway them either way?

Doesn't NPR have to justify what they did?
4 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoShouldn't Obama try to appeal to independents for the 2010 election instead of "firing up the base"?
Not sure where the he and the Democrats are going. Independents (those that will vote either Republican or Democrat) are the deciders in most elections. Seems like their strategy is flawed.
6 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoHas there ever been anything like the health care bill big voted in without bipartisan and public support?
Obviously there is a pretty big split. Count it as you may but it has been at least 50-50 with a tilt towards disapproval of this thing. But it was made into law. Are there other major laws that have been enacted this way?
5 AnswersOther - Politics & Government1 decade agoIs the USA a Representative Republic?
And what does that mean? Are our representatives supposed to vote for their constituent's wishes? How well is this working?
4 AnswersOther - Politics & Government1 decade agoDo you think the Health Care "Summit" really accomplished something?
Or was it a dog and pony show that benefited the politicians only? I hate to seem pessimistic but they can have all the "summits" they want to make it appear that all voices are heard but still go back and do the backroom deals. Summits do not create legislation.
8 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoSomeone please explain to me why Chris Matthews still has a job?
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100128/ap_on_en_tv/us...
He "forgot he was black" ???? Who says these kinds of things and thinks they are normal? Is it because Matthews is an old man and grew up in a different era?

4 AnswersElections1 decade agoIs it a shame that Obama's golf game keeps getting interrupted?
"Obama friend's child injured, golf interrupted"

Thank goodness according to the report: "After a brief delay, Obama returned to the course."
or worse Terrorism:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091229/ap_o%E2%80%A6
where it was reported: "On Monday, he did not address the public until after a workout and a tennis game with his wife — and went golfing immediately afterward. "

20 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWhy is health care reform more important than fixing our economy?
I really don't get it. I truly believe that Obama was elected because the economy crashed. That was the only reason he got into office. And since then things are far from fixed but the Senate and House seem absorbed with the health care thing. I would guess that the average American would say in large numbers that economy issues still need attention and the government is not taking care of what they were elected to do. Is universal health care going to create or save jobs?
19 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWhat is the Decision on Afghanistan?
I think the president should ramp it up (add more troups) or take them all out. One or the other - make a DECISION. What is going on now is not working and a decision needs to be made so we don't waste more lives and ASAP. What do you think?

22 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoHow many health bills are there?
I thought I heard somewhere there were several (or several different versions) ... I would love to find that link. So what exactly was congress going to vote on? Was there one bill in particular? And will it be the same one that they come back to in a month?

... meanwhile our economy and that of Europe, Japan, probably China and Russia is headed for a downward spiral.
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/12/business/worldbu...
"The International Monetary Fund recently warned that the world faced the prospect of a simultaneous recession in the United States, Europe and Japan for the first time in more than 60 years. The Chinese economy, long the main engine of growth in oil demand, is also slowing."
