Europeans are happy we have health care reform?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/time/20100324/wl_time/0859...

Europeans are gloating this week. The continent might be struggling with ballooning debts, a faltering euro and national strikes, but when the U.S. House voted in favor of President Barack Obama's health care bill Sunday night, March 21, Europeans seized the moment to thumb their noses at Americans and remind them that they've had pretty good health care for decades.

Doesn't the first line of the story say it all? How is Universal Health care working out for them financally?

Update:

So reading many of your posts, please share with me why Europeans are going broke? Is it their liberal policies?

They know we can't afford to police the world any longer.

To the dude above me, their debts have been on the books for decades, just like ours. The recession is just showing that being too dependent on debt is unsustainable.

What makes you think the average European cares what happens regarding your domestic policies , that is your business. You must understand that European newspapers are just sensationalized garbage , they only want to sell more papers , the people don't care about your internal debates.

That article is stupid propaganda designed to stirr up ill feeling and of course you'il buy it.

I despair about how gullible some Americans can be , an American Journalist clearly nit picking a handful of sources from European Media , publishing it on a national scale in the USA , making the public believe that today in Europe everybody is talking about your Healthcare reform , and since she worded the article so childishly ............

I typed in "Europeans Gloating" on Google to see what would appear , and unsurprisingly enough , the very first link that appears is of the article above , appearing on a right wing website more famous for hounding the Dixie Chicks when they slagged off George Bush.

Look at the comments in that link , those people are putty in the medias hands , they can manipulate their thinking so easily its ridiculous and sad

Can you show it was actually Universal Health care that is responsible for the debts and not, say the global recession that's going on?

That's right, you can't. So don't bite bigger pieces than you can chew. Assuming the answer just won't do.

Edit: Fed up - Sure, most Western countries have been in debt for decades. But that does not show Universal Health care caused it, especially seeing as America too has been in debt an equal amount of time with no Universal Health care. To show it was the UH that caused the debt, you'd actually have to present evidence in favour of your claim. Evidence which you have not presented. You too are biting too a big piece.

the reason Europe has higher than normal debt is because it brought loads of sub-prime AMERICAN mortgages off AMERICAN BANKS, then when the witless fools running America manged to run it's own economy into the ground it nearly dragged Europe down with it.

as for the EU's overall debt, it is a puddle when compared to the lake of debt the US is currently drowning in.

hope you got a good pair of swimming trunks

@yablocks, as much as i hate to show the world your actually an idiot, there is NO CO-PAY in the UK healthcare, everything is free at point of delivery, that includes doctor visits, most prescriptions, etc. (as such your claim about 'black market' medicine is clearly BS because everyone can afford to go and see a doctor as often as they want, on account of it BEING FREE.

it would be best if you keep out of things that you clearly have no idea about, 'facts' like what you have just given are easily disproved with only a few minutes of research,

Wise Guy sums it up really. The american journalist who wrote the article doesn't speak on behalf of myself or Europe, even because "VIVIENNE WALT / PARIS Vivienne Walt / Paris" claims to live in Paris, Paris, Illinois is that?

YAb'llox..."regularly read the London Times as well as many other European papers"bla, bla.... but you haven't used the NHS, I have many, many times, and as such, am an 'expert in the field of using the NHS' so can say without a shadow of a doubt you know nothing about the UK health service or UK politics.

I surely have study a lot of analogies in this debate and performance a sparkling one too. are you able to imagine if the fireplace dept became privatized and your homestead is on fireplace. once you've fireplace ins (diverse than sources vendors like health ins is diverse than existence ins) an agent comes out to provide acclaim for the fireplace co to go back. in case you do not have fireplace ins the do exactly not come or if the data you've ins is burnt contained in the fireplace they could purely sprinkle somewhat water on it until eventually eventually they recognize if your lined. and in case you had a hearth beforehand even a small one you won't be able to get coverage. and certain fireplace dept is paid by interior sight property proprietor taxes, notwithstanding the health difficulty is to very large to be dealt with by each and each state personally. and if each and each state has that is personal guidelines what about portability ? Randy n states,"decrease taxes ! human beings recognize best the thanks to spend their personal money and they don't desire the authorities.to inform them the thanks to spend what they earn. that is the optimal thanks to seperate liberals from conservatives. A conservative believes that the authorities could artwork for the persons, even as liberals trust that the persons could artwork for the authorities." now I understand why conservatives misunderstand JFK favourite speech,"Ask not what your us of a can do for you, ask what you're able to do on your us of a."

I'm friends w/ a lot of Canadians & Europeans and regularly read the London Times as well as many other European papers and the facts are simple. In the UK approximately 1 in 6 people that have gov't dental health care do their own dental work because the system is so horrible. The Canadian top politicians fly to the US for surgical procedures. If you have operable cancer there is a significant chance it will become terminal prior to seeing an oncologist in the UK & Canada. Statistically you are far more likely to die of just about everything in the UK & Canada than in the US. The US has always had free critical health care for people and it's not reported. It's cheaper in the UK to get medical treatment on the black market than get the "free" medical care due to gov't co-pay. Canadians pay about 40% of their taxes for the "free" medical care. When you do the math this is far more money than they would ever spend on medical care if there was a private sector. I could go on and on though if you were able to look at the fact you would see how horrible the Socialist/Communist health care system & well as gov'ts of Europe & Canada are.

I would think that most of the world leaders are really bummed. Now were are they going to go for their important medical issues?

I see it is a liberal article from "Time". They are known for skewing the truth and most the time they shy away from any truth for the liberal cause.

From everything I have read the European health care is a failure, also the Canadian.

  • The reason they are in debt isn't from Universal Health Care.
