Why are my steering wheel and brakes squeaky?!?
When I turn the corners, my steering wheel squeaks. There is nothing wrong with the function of the wheel, it's just squeaky. Oh, and my brakes are also squeaky.
How do I fix these? I drive a 1999 Audi Avante A4.
((I don't want to take it to a mechanic if it's an easy fix. ))
Good suggestions so far. Thanks everyone!

Loose nut behind the wheel?
^ last person i said that too actually took his steering wheel apart looking for a loose nut, he didnt realize i meant him. lol
Seriously though, Assuming your squeaking steering wheel sound is actually coming from the steering wheel inside the car. Your steering wheel likely has some cheap bushings in it that rub when you turn. If theres nothing wrong with the way it works, just deal with it. If the sound is coming from under the hood check your power steering fluid and add if necessary.
Squeaky brakes... Could be anything from worn out brake pads to caliper bolts that were not properly cleaned and lubricated the last time someone did a brake job on the car. Also there is some anti-squeak stuff that can be applied to the back of brake pads when they are installed. Some mechanics use it to prevent people coming back whining about squeaky brakes, some dont use it.

Put the correct power steering fluid in the resevior and most likely get new brake pads. dont take my word on it but when most brakes squeak it is the pads.

Try spraying a little silicon spray between the steering wheel and the covers.
Get the brakes inspected so you know they are safe.

could be power steering so check fluid for the steering wheel squeek's
as for the brakes,
maybe new brake pads and resurface of the rotors

Had the same problem with my car (a Mitsubishi) I took it in for a tune-up and they fixed it. My steering fluid was fine, too. It was something that needed to be fixed beyond just a DIY solution, though.

You may need new brake pads, however some brakes are just noisey. As for the stearing, it may need greasing.

you need to lube it up
