Loose material inside bronze statue, is it common?

I just received a statue of a lion and there is a void in the middle with loose material rattling around, is this common in bronze statues?

There could be some investment that wasn't removed after casting. The left over investment could have loosened during shipment. It is only a problem if you plan to keep the piece in a wet area where it could maybe react and start some corrosion

When the piece was made a wax figure was made then placed in investment. The wax was burned out and a hole was left by the wax, Bronze was poured in the hole. The piece cooled then the investment was removed. This may be some of the investment that got stuck
