Drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, bronze casting, glass blowing, wood carving I am on the board of a comunity ceramic group

  • rfid and inventory control?

I had a job interview for a company in Northern Illinois. One future project is implementing a system to control the inventory of reusable custom pallet racks for engine parts and transmissions

The main part of the job is working with vendors developing and ordering the racks

I want to do some research to include in a follow up letter

These reusable pallet racks are very expensive and are shipped to multiple locations so the extra expense of the tags and readers would be minor to the savings if the inventory was better controlled

Currently things are entered by hand on a microsoft spread sheet so there is room fo improvement.

I might want to explore bar coding but that would still need people to scan the bar codes

I would appreciate help in my initial research.

  • Does any one have advise about encaustic painting on firied ceramics?

I have a friend thinking about trying encaustic painting on fired ceramics.

This maybe nice for some of my figurative pieces.

I would be applying this to fired ceramics - I would like to think about firing to cone 1 instead of the normal cone 6 so the ceramic clay would still be porous.

I would like to keep this as nontoxic as possible

I do have a last refuge of working in a spray booth vented to the outside.

  • Clay cooking for a potter – thermal shock?

I saw a lot of articles about cooking in clay pots

My hobby is pottery so I wanted to make a few pieces to use myself.

I made a tagine and had it fired to cone 10 using the regular class clay that has a lot of recycled clay in the studio

Using a very low fame the pot popped into 4 big pieces and a few small fragments within 30 seconds

Next time I am thinking about using a heat diffuser and maybe a piece that was only low fired to cone 05

Requesting advice to try simple clay pot cooking for a potter.

  • How to restore programs after going through windows recovery?

Windows had trouble starting I tried to start using F11

The machine went through a recovery procedure.

Files were backed up and put in folders I can find.

The desk top is like I bought the computer 4 years ago

I think the programs are saved some how but I don't know how to reinstate what I can without getting out the original disks for the programs I use.

I plan to buy an external hard drive and copy the files I can find before attempting changes

    the lost wax process,

    investment,

    types of glass,

    and annealing schedule

  • Does any one have a formula for a cone 05 glaze?

I am paying to use a ceramic studio. The studio normally high fires to cone 9 - cone 10. But will occasionally do a kiln at cone 5-cone 6. The studio also does bisk kiln to 05

The studio has chemicals available to mix glazes. I have a acceptable cone 10 base glaze but not a good low fire glaze.

I am starting to use under glaze crayons and pencils. Some of the colors burn out at cone 5. Some pieces I do are sculpture so I could get by with a less durable glaze that is not food safe if I could put it in the bisk kiln firings..

I am looking for a clear glaze that could finish in the bisk kiln and not disturb the other pieces in the kiln.

I have a gallon bell jar. I am taking a ceramic class doing Cone 10 pots.

What foods would be good for solar picnics?

What type of ceramic pots would be handy?

  • What are some of the ways to embellish ceramics?

The studio I am taking classes in fires to cone 10

I have been mixing some slips and glazes. I also tried some Black, blue, and green pencils for drawing on bisk and cover with a clear glaze. I want to find some other way to decorate bowls and jars.
