In Ubuntu, using Fluxbox, what utility do I need to be able to look at an old floppy drive (the a: drive)?
I have a fairly recent minimal version of Ubuntu on a very old machine. It works okay for most simple tasks. I don't know that much about Linux or Ubuntu, so rather than use a terminal and some command, I'd like a program that recognizes when I put a disk in the floppy drive, and lets me view what's there. Is there such a thing?

Of course you can get your floppy drive working in Linux. First of all you must ensure that the floppy drive is functioning. some old floppy drive gets cranky when you feed a disk into it's drive bay. Usually in Ubuntu when you put in a floppy disk there comes an icon on your desktop and at that moment opening nautilus showing contents of the drive. But in case of Fluxbox what you need to do is open your file manager such as ROX or PCMANFM and search for the drive number on the left pain. After clicking it a.k.a. mount, all the contents from the diskette will be shown in the right pane. Provided that your floppy drive is ok and also the floppy disk is accessible.
