as you know, the current administration is trying to build bridges to appease the muslim extremists. so, to show their resolve this administration is trying be somewhat cold to israel. i think the administrations goal is to offer the terrorist rogue nations a carrot rather than a baseball bat to the head. maybe that will work; and maybe not. of course to the administrations credit, they are actively fighting the terrorists in afghanistan. problem is, sooner or later israel will act will act alone against iran.
the white house also needs to understand that the current jewish government is under extreme pressure to build settlements. in israel. like britain, you can have a no confidence vote and over throw the gov. so the jews are between a rock and a hard place.
IF the jews do act alone against iran, they will have to fly over iraq. so they either need our permission or we better not be there. assuming they work all that out, all bets are still off. if israel attacks iran, it's world wide economic chaos and everybody is pissed.
so you know....it's one of those deals. to build settlements or to not build settlements? THAT is the question!

The White House is pursuing it's agenda which includes achieving peace between Israel and the Arab world. The White House is trying to force Israel to make concessions in order to restart the negotiations. The White House, however, does not take into consideration that Israel has already offered and provided multiple concessions to the Arab side which all turned out badly for Israel (Gaza evacuation, for example).
The White House is meeting strong resistance from the Israeli government as it is unclear how preventing the building process in Israel's capital will improve the chances of true and sincere peace negotiations.
