Crosby or Ovechkin to Pass Gretzky?
I'm not a big fan of either player but I'd just like to know whom YOU feel is on the best track to surpass Gretzky? Seems that all the NHL analysts want Crosby cause he's the poster boy for the NHL but I'm just curious as to other fan's opinion on this one? If I had to pick right now it would be a toss up! Down the road I hate to say it but it'll probably be Crosby.

I don't feel like either one of them will do it. To be honest, I don't think I'll see it in my lifetime.

Whichever one of them can play for another 35 years, because the scoring pace of the game is not the same as it was during Gretzky's prime. Unless things open up in the next few years, neither of them will catch Gretzky. That's not to say that Crosby and Ovechkin aren't elite players. Maybe they could have kept up if they played in the 80s, but it's a different game now.

I'm an Ovechkin fan, but I also think Crosby is a very talented hockey player. But, wait, Gretzky? That's gonna be tough for them!

In points neither, Gretzky averaged about 145 points a year, neither of the two has had more than 120 and that was Crosby one year. If Crosby got 120 points every year starting from his rookie season he would need about 25 years of 120 points to get that record. Gretzky's record of points will never be broken unless offense completely opens up and I don't see that happening.

Too pass Gretzky? Neither one! But the closest one will have to be Ovechkin. He has won more individual awards than Crosby making him the better player. Many people refuse to admit it, but those individual awards are given to the best for that certain category. Example the Hart trophy given to the most valuable player. Ovechkin has 2 possible 3 but the end of the season, Crosby has 1.

the same year the Leafs win the Stanley Cup, and Hell Freezes over. If Crosby's profession finished in factors comes interior 500 of Gretzky's assists on my own, i could be VERY stunned. upload Crosby and Malkin together and that that they had come close to to Gretzky's finished.

Since you asked which is on the best track......it is an easy answer. Crosby.
At 22 years old, Crosby has in the neighborhood of 500 points.
At 22 years old, Ovechkin had in the neighborhood of 300 points.
I am among those that am positive that neither will do it but Crosby is way further ahead of the curve.....Ovechkin currently has about 500 points.....when Crosby is 24 (Ovechkin's age), he will have 700+.

crosby has the best chance; in order to even have a chance at gretzky's numbers the player will have to have a long career. crosby started so young and will probably play more years + ovechkin's style of being physical will probably takes its toll more on his body.

Ovechkin will probably do it before Crosby, but Crosby will always accomplish more than Ovie because look at them both 3 years in the league, what is the difference?

The Edge goes to Crosby even though Ovechkin will always rack up more Offseason Awards.

Alex the Great 8 has the best chance at passing. Gretzky couldnt have scored as well in this age of hockey as he did in the Sucky goalie era
