Baseball scoring question concerning a tipped strike?
If a strike that's slightly tipped by the batter ends up in the catchers glove (he was going to catch it anyway), is this credited as a strikeout (the batter had two previous strikes) or a pop-out caught by the catcher?

Like others have said, a foul tip is just like a strike and on the third strike it would be considered a strikeout. And any runners on base could steal without tagging up if they want.
If it's a foul tip and not caught cleanly by the catcher it's merely a foul ball.

A pitch that is tipped directly into the catcher's glove is a strike regardless of the count. It's scored as a strikeout if there was already 2 strikes.

A foul tip into the glove is considered a strike out. The ball would have to go up in the air and then come down to be be a pop out. If it is tipped but keeps it's path of going straight back it's a foul tip and can be caught for a third strike.

If a foul tip is a third strike it is credited as a strikeout. Putout to the catcher.

a tipped pitch that doesnt change the plane of its path enough to make the catcher have to move like a foul popup, is considered a strikeout.
so it would be credited as a strikeout.

It is a strikeout. If the ball goes up and comes down and he catches it then it is a pop out.
