A submarine's submerged patrol is limited only by its food supply. It can make as much freshwater and oxygen as it wants to, but you can't make food.

The longest known submerged patrol is 111 days, accomplished by the HMS Warspite in the South Atlantic over 1982-83.

The standard length of a US Navy deterrent patrol is set at a 70-day submerged mission, then 25 days to refit, train, and prepare the boat for the next crew (each SSBN has two crews, "Blue" and "Gold" so that they remain fresh and relaxed -- you don't want bored and touchy aboard a ballistic missile submarine).
