Who will be the Bears DE to compliment Julius Peppers this season?

Peppers has the versatility to play LE and RE. Peppers played his last 2 seasons as a RE, but prefers being a LE. Regardless of where he plays, Chicago will have a big hole at the other DE position.

Last year, the LE was Adewale Ogunleye. He is currently a free agent.

Last year, the RE was Alex Brown. Chicago is looking to trade him or inevitably cut him.

Last year, DE Gaines Adams unfortunately died at way too young of an age.

The only player I can think of to compliment Peppers is DT/DE Jarron Gilbert, but he got very little playing time last season.

What do the Bears plan to do to address that need?

Mark Anderson and Israel Idonije are their plans. Also Henry Melton and Jarron Gilbert showed some promise. I think this is more of a tactic to test waters for a possible Olsen deal, to see how high they can go for Brown, or Olsen. In my mind though, I don't see the Bears pulling a trigger on Brown or Olsen, but if they do on Brown, they'd probably resign Adewale Ogunleye.

You're assuming, of course, that Peppers' play will deserve to be complimented this year and given the loser the Bears have for a head coach that's hardly a given. Lovie Smith has taken a top-notch defense and turned it into the Detroit Lions of defenses, so Peppers may wind up stinking up the place just like all the Bears defenders did last year.

If that should be the case finding a DE will be critical to the Bears this year.

With Brian Urlacher coming decrease back that is a stunning signing. Now they might properly be have the finished protection they'd even as they went to the tremendous Bowl decrease back in 2006-07 back. i love the signing a good purchase. BQ: certain an dazzling volume. i imagine suitable 5 protection contained in the NFC this twelve months BQ2: maximum definately. They upload some help to the D-Line and a reliable WR alongside with Calvin Johnson who will draw double communities

I do actually think with the money they invested in Julius they need another pass rusher. The Redskins had this problem when they traded for Jason Taylor. We had no other pass rusher. So coaches will easily scheme their blocking toward Peppers. Peppers is a sporadic pass rusher. Your not going to get 100% every down. So with them not picking until the 3rd round, I can see them trying to get a D linemen with that pick.

i figured they would resign ogunleye, but he might be expensive. still, if they arent going to spend the money on a WR than the might just as well have an overpriced defensive line
