a couple of broadband questions?

1) I currently have a 24 Month T-Mobile Broadband Contract (yes, one of the biggest mistakes i have ever made), its been almost 15 months into my contract, and i want out, i heard there is a penalty fee, exactly how much will this be? and is there a loop hole to get out of it, but if its not too much i will be willing to pay for it?

2) I currently lack a phone line (as the reason i looked at Mobile Broadband), i am looking to get a new hooked up, i looked at virgin media, and seen the best Broadband 20 meg deal, so i have my broadband deal i want, but i currently DO NOT live in a fibre optic area, so i need a phone line, will Virgin put up there own Phone Line?, or will BT need to hook it up?, i've heard virgin will hook it up and i wont need to pay line rental? is that right

Any help will be greatly appreciated, i have looked at Virgins website, but the person on the other end of the chat, was quite un help, not on purpose i dont think, but still please, any insight will be awesome

Update:

i need a highspeed internet because i want to go onto xbox live

Update 2:

so i can change my provider for free, if they say yes, does this work with Mobile Broadband though?

Update 3:

thanks Matt, i understood that all, i'll just have to make some calls for a defiantive answer though

Your charge for cancelling the contract early will be the 9 months at £15 = £135 for cancelling early. It is hard to find a loophole with mobile broadband as its just a mobile service and is regulated the same was as mobile phones, its not regulated the same way fixed line broadband is. So if your only getting 76kbps on your t-mobile connection then theres nothing you can really do, it would probably be easier just paying the £135.

If you dont live in a fibre optic broadband area then virgin can still offer you upto 20meg broadband, 20meg via fibre optic you have more chance of getting than 20meg down a phoneline, its not impossible but its rare to get the full speed down a phone line. Virgin will activate a phone line for you even if you dont have an active line for £44 , but it says nothing on their website about installing lines , but they might but expect them not to just incase they dont do that. If virgin connect you you will pay line rental to virgin and not BT.

it's usually the remainder of the contract that you have to pay.

you should phone them up and ask them if you cancel the contract or if you migrate to a diffrent provider, what do you have to pay.

it can be a nightmare sometimes, even when you cancel, they sometimes keep chargeing you till the end of the contract.

    Edit_

you did have a 7 day cancellation period, but that is long gone.

as for the person below me saying ask for a signature as proofe of the contract. it doesnt matter, they have you recorded, and over the phone, diffrent things count as a signature, your date of birth, confirming your name, confirming your post code, these are all methods of a signature over the phone.

the reason i said ask how much it will cost if you migrate, is because some companies will let you migrate for free or for cheaper then a clear cut cancellation.

if you have no download limmit, a good way to get rid of them is to abuse the line, now i'm not saying it's good, but it's a way to go, download as much as you can 24/7 sooner or later you will get a letter from them telling you that your using there internet too much, and are in breech of the fair usage policy, keep doing it and eventually they will tell you to find a diffrent provider.

1 - Best way out is if you never signed anything...they will try to hold you too it, just tell them to show you your signature indicating you agreed to the terms...the other way out is if the have failed to provide you the service you signed up for...are you not getting the speed or do you lose connection all the time...you will need logs to supplement your claim

2- Magicjack.com works pretty well and is super cheap $20 a year. It uses your PC usb port to access the broadband and you can plug it into a phone jack in your house to light up all the other jacks (make sure the service isn't connected to the telco wire first)

virgin will give you a ln ad line, however if there is one already there you will be better off getting landline through bt and tv, broadband and telephone through sky, starts from 17 quid for all 3, i have it and its the best internet connection i have ever had, and trust me ive tried a few
