Does an endodontist typically finish your build up, post, and crown after doing a referral root canal therapy?

My regular dentist did a post and build up, now it is worse off, he says I need a root canal from a specialist. I am curious, who does the rest of the work after the specialist finishes it? I.E., molding and crown.

Update:

My dentist called it a cleanout, whatever the hell that means, I dont think he did a freaking full root canal. Someone told me he hates doing them because they take too long and he has to be hunched over the whole time.

The only think I think he did was invite the decay into the root by drilling out the tooth and not doing the full root canal.

If he did a post you must have already had a root canal done. If you are to see a specialist, the root canal must have failed and needs to be redone. After it has been retreated, your dentist will do the post, build up, and crown. good luck.
