Is PCIe X16 2.0 Compatible with the Intel 945GC Chipset?
So i'm looking to buy a new graphics card while keeping my motherboard that has only a PCIe X16 slot. I know 2.0 is backwards compatible, but I am reading that it may only be backwards compatible to motherboards with an X38 Intel Chipset and beyond.
I was just wondering what you guys think, and if anyone here has a 945GC correctly working with a 2.0 card. They say it should work with and PCIe X16 slot, but I just want to make sure. Thanks!

945GC has a 1.1 version of PCI-E

It will support a PCI-E 2.0 video card
You can install the card and it will work fine, there is plenty of banwidth.
250 MB/s per lane = 4GB/s
I have a GTX260 in a PCI-E x16 1.0 motherboard and it runs Crysis at 40 fps on high setttings and resolution
PCIe 2.0 motherboard slots are fully backward compatible with PCIe v1.x cards. PCIe 2.0 cards are also generally backward compatible with PCIe 1.x motherboards, using the available bandwidth of PCI Express 1.1. Overall, graphic cards or motherboards designed for v 2.0 will be able to work with the other being v 1.1 or v 1.0.

they have compatibility they the two have LGA775 socket. i might double verify each and all the wires are plugged in ideal, and once you hit the capability button does the capability furnish turn on? If particular then re-insert the CPU if no longer then you definitely understand that's a capability malfunction.
