Can dogs get skin tags on their feet?
On the bulletin board at the Village Hall where I live, there was a poster with two puppies and it said "Labradoodles for Sale". Someone had written on the poster, "Be responsible and spay and neuter your pets!!!!!!!!!!!" Someone else had crossed out Labradoodles and put Mutts. Man that made me happy.
Legitimate question: Can dogs get skin tags in the skin between their pads? My friend's dog has what looks like a skin tag on his foot and she's on vacation so I was wondering if this is something that could wait until she gets back next week or if I should take him in tomorrow morning.

Yes, dogs can get skin tags anywhere. I really wouldnt worry about taking your friends dog to the vet. It not a serious issues. Most the time the vet says to jsut keep and eye on it and dont push the owners to do anythign about it unless it is bothering the pet and is bleeding or something. They are normal and nothing to freak out about! :) Im a vet technician....i see this on a daily basis!

Sounds like he has mange and you need to get it treated or it will spread throughout your dog's body. Usually diagnosing mange requires a simple skin scraping of the affected area. The vet will then put the sample under a microscope to look for the mites. Sarcoptic mites are usually not visible and further blood work may be required. There are several treatments for mange mites and usually they’re quite effective. Your veterinarian will prescribe one of them (sometimes a dip, spray or creme) with perhaps an antibiotic and positive results should appear inside 7 days. Ivermectin, known to farmers for a long time as a dewormer has become a successful treatment for many dogs however a few breeds such as Collies and Shelties do not respond well to it. You must visit the vet for mange as only medication can reverse these effects

They absolutely CAN get skin tags. It's of no concern, it does not impair the health of the dog in any way. For cosmetic reasons, you can have your vet laser them off, but this is not necessary. It just looks ugly. Pugs, Boston Terriers, Bulldogs and other short-haired breeds can get them frequently and easily, although ANY breed can get them.
Hope this helps!
