    49x = 1 1/3

    49x = 4/3

    x = (4/3)/49

    x = 4/147

    Answer: x = 4/147

    -----------

    2 1/4x = 90

    9/4x = 90

    x = 90(4/9)

    x = 360/9 or 40

    Answer: x = 40

    First question: Make it so that the 1/3s become X/9s.

    1 1/3 is actually 1 3/9, so 9/9 + 3/9 = 12/9.

    4/9 X ? = 12/9. Answer is 3 because 4 X 3 = 12.

    You have it right for the last question. You divide 90 by 2 1/4.

    40 is the correct answer :) you do the same thing on the first one, 1 1/3 divided by 4/9 (same as 4/3 divided by 4/9, same as 4/3 times 9/4) so the answer is 36/12 or 3.

    1) first i would give both the fractions the same denominator, so 4/9 stays, but 1 1/3 turns into 12/9. then you have to isolate the variable by taking the opposite opperation of multiplication. so just divide 12/9 by 4/9, and x=3.

    2)again, isolate the variable by dividing both sides by 2.25. x=40

    4/3 = 12/9 mulltiply by recprocal both sides

    4/9x * 9/4 = 12/9 *9/4

    x= 108/36 reduce

    x= 54/18

    x =27/9
