My dog was attacked & I want to know if he'll be okay?

Please help!

Today while I was walking my dog (a dachshund) a German Shepard attacked him and bit his little body and started shaking him, but it was only like one shake because I reached down to grab my dog and literally had to push the other dog away to get it to release. A huge patch of skin tore off and was literally in one intact piece on the road, with more skin hanging off his back. We rushed my dog to the vet and he never lost consciousness and he didn't bleed too much, but the vet said it is possible that he has internal trauma or his back may be hurt, and I won't know anything til around noon because they had to put him under to sew the skin back on. Surgery took around 4 hours and she says the skin looks swollen.

Will he be okay? I really need to know :/

he'll be fine.. im sure the dogs tooth didn't go down into his spine or else the vet would have noticed by now and there wasn't much internal damage he can do with one shake. my puppy was attacked by a pitt bull when he was 3 months old and he was shaken around pretty bad, im sorry but i really got scared and i kicked and punched the pitts jaws to make it let go. my dog survived with a huge big hole in his back like between his shoulder blades, we gave him medicine to prevent infection and wrapped him up. he wasn't bleeding much and didn't require stitches but he turned out just fine. and the pitt was safe too but i learned that that pitt was trained to fight and i was thankful that he didn't kill my dog!

I'm pretty sure you're just going to have to wait for the vet diagnoses. That's great that you got him to the vet right away. I hope he pulls through for you, it's unfortunate what happend.

The vet seems to know what he is doing I would say yes he will do fine. Good luck!
