No, not really. Many associates degrees require 60 credits worth of work, but simply having 60 credits does not mean you have an associates. To get an associates, you must enroll in an associates program and fulfill the requirements (a major and general education classes).

That' s correct. You will need another 60 credits for a bachelor degree. To get an AS degree in Business Administration for example, you would have to complete some courses in accounting, business law, and business management. There are schools offering Associate Degree in General Studies.

Additional information:
Having 60 credits is not the same as having an AS degree because you must meet some course requirements. I do not know how people interpret "equivalent", I only know you have the same amount of credits as an AS degree holder. Semester hours is the amount of credit hours a student takes in a semester, usually for a college or university to count towards a degree.
