1998 Monte Carlo engine or battery problem?
I accidentally left my glove box open all night and my car wouldn't start. I jumped the car with no problem and it started and ran just fine. The next day, my car wouldn't start. Again, I jumped it and it worked fine. And this time it worked fine for a few days, however it was a bit weak starting each time. Now, my engine only clicks rapidly when I turn the ignition. Could this be a battery problem which could be solved with a new battery or is this a much larger issue?
Thanks.

A battery is cheap compared to taking it to a shop and paying $100 for a diagnostics check....
Its most likely the battery.... It may have been near the end of its service life anyways - so when you left that little light on all night it may have weakened it because it was drawn down to close to being dead.... A heathy battery doesnt have a problem with this - but an old battery will......
Just buy a battery and put it in..... Its way cheaper than a mechanic to find out if thats the problem.....

+1 on buy a new battery is probably the most cost effective choice.
But if you don't want to go that route, get a smart battery charger to see if that will restore the battery and fully charge it. The batteryminder product can also potentially recondition your battery to some degree.

Well if you are hearing that clicking noise that is the starter solenoid trying to move the starter. But dose not have enough power to turn it over. You have a battery problem. You should replace you battery.

Well, the battery is certainly low.
Perhaps you're not driving long enough to recharge it.
Perhaps it's old and worn out and needs replacing.
Perhaps your alternator isn't putting out.
Most places like Autozone can check your battery & charging system.

Common on these cars with Dex-cool in them. The coolant turns to a chunky brown crud. If you have the 3.4L V6, very very good change the lower intake gasket is leaking, extremely common. May need to have the system pressure tested and make sure the intake is not leaking. On the generation II 3800 V6, the intake and throttle body gasket commonly leak. Check these out and make sure they are good
