Anyone else out there been diagnosed with adrenal fatigue or adrenal exhaustion?

My doctor did the saliva tests and said I have adrenal exhaustion. I have read Dr. James Wilson's book, am taking prescription vitamins and herbs to support the adrenals, have altered my diet, and am sleeping and working and breaking on the schedules recommended by my doctor and the book. If you have had this, how long did it take to recover? Is this the same thing as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome? I was diagnosed with that in the 1980's, and spent nearly two years recovering, with bouts of this happening most of my adult life. Any tips?

Sorry to have to tell you, but there is no such thing as "adrenal fatigue" or "adrenal exhaustion". There is such a thing as adrenal insufficiency, but that is a serious condition which needs urgent and specialist treatment by an endocrinologist, and for which diet and herbs would not make any difference. And there is no evidence that adrenal insufficiency can be diagnosed with salivary tests. I realise it must be frustrating to feel bad and have no clear diagnosis, but please don't allow yourself to be ripped off by quacks.

Perhaps you are interested to know what happens in hospitals? As a 40 years qualified nurse I can tell you I have been seen thousands of thousands of suffering people by all the possible illnesses . The symptoms of adrenal fatigue are not specific to this suffering, at least in the first stages, that is why many doctors don't pay a special attention in this direction. They think to many other possible diseases that have, more or less the same symptoms. Also, in this phases the unsatisfied patients are going from doctor to doctor hoping to find THE ONE to cure their lamentations. In the meanwhile these suffering people are struggling to keep up with life's demands. Hypoadrenalism must meet not just a good doctor but a good doctor with an intuition. I am going to tell you now how has discovered an adrenal fatigue by an intuitive good doctor I worked with her. Please, hold a chair ! By a bold, long enlarged enormous clitoris when the woman told us that it happened to her only in the last two years. Another interesting case I saw was a woman with evident symptoms of stress and plus a red , very red palms. As you see many symptoms are not specifically to this syndrom and I think there are many people suffering because an adrenal fatigue without knowing this. Those "tired but can't sleep" , those sweaty palms, those with inexplicable tendency to cry,or with nervous laughter, fatigued for not reason, lack of attention to details are just a part from this syndrom of 21st Century. I have here no enough place and time to say how many people I seen with this real ill. These two small glands produce a cascade of around 100 hormones important for our survival. When these glands are no able to produce an optimal level of hormones we become very fragile creatures. For a jump start, you did well by taking 3000 mg. vit. C but it isn't enough. treatment is a-la-long and requests a great will too. Try also a weekly professional massage, you'll be sleeping in her/his arms Feel free to ask me any question you may have. Wishing you to feel better soon.

If I were told this I would stop it all. Eat plenty of foods from all the food groups and drink water and get off all the beverages.
